- Team Contract
Teamwork plays a vital role in providing any services to the third party (Valentine, et. al, 2015). Teams can be made according to the domain and task needed to be done regardless of their field (Ohlander, et. al, 2019).
We also have formed a group of 5 people where we have made a contract about our roles and responsibilities to carry out a task. As per Belbin’s team role (2020), we have discussed and divided our task as follows.
Member name | Role | Responsibilities |
Sudip Shrestha | Co-ordinator & Implementer | Focus on the goal, divide responsibility equally, make strategy |
Sejal Wadhera | Plant | Generate new ideas and solve problems. |
Era Millenia | Team Worker | Coordinate ideas and implement them |
Muhammad Fahad Siddique | Plant & Shaper. | Provide ideas, problem-solving and guide team on the right track |
Manish Shrestha | Monitor evaluator | Thinks logically and provide required |
- Teamwork procedure
During the teamwork, all the team members will be responsible for their part. We will discuss all the steps to be taken to complete the task of change management. All of us will have mutual respect, communication, and effort as a group on our assessment.
- Communication method
According to Gail (2022), Communication is the exchange of ideas or information among people. It involves the use of various social behaviours such as voicing one’s opinions and concerns, as well as the resolution of conflict or disagreement.
To communicate, we exchanged phone numbers and emails. We also have created a WhatsApp group so that we can be in touch any time of the day. As per the meeting, we have set two days i.e., on Wednesday and Sunday where we will have a few days to work on our discussion. Regarding virtual meetings, all group members will join vis Zoom and we can discuss assessment more and plan in assessment. Similarly, we also have created a google doc to do our parts where we can track the assessment progression.
- Assessment Development
All our group members are highly motivated and focused on getting Higher Distinction or at least Distinction in this subject. As per our goal, all group members will go through the course outline and mark rubrics to be on track with our plan. The workload will be divided according to the team member’s strengths and weaknesses.
Sudip worked as a coordinator and implementor, dividing equal workload to all group members, focusing on our goals, and helping the team make effective strategies. Similarly, Sejal and Muhammad will be generating more new ideas that will be vital for a team to make further decisions. And Era will help coordinate those generated ideas and implement them to develop a strong vision. Manish will help evaluate all the ideas and choose the logical one for assessment development.
- Teams’ expectation
As mentioned above, all our team members are expecting Higher Distinction or Distinction for which we will be working hard on it. According to Maples (2008), Forming and storming are two of five Truckman’s group formations that helped us to form our group’s rules and boundaries. Some of them are listed below
- Respect each team member ethically.
- Divide workload equally.
- Communication among all group members must be respectful and clear.
- A regular day and time for the meeting will be set which is suitable for all group members.
- Norming of group
According to Kessler (2013), norming helps group members to express their ideas and recommendations that can help the group or team to finalise their project or group work. In this, all the ideas that are shared among the group members will be appreciated and discussed further as per the requirement of the task.
The Norming stage is a step in the Tuckman’s Group Development process that involves developing team members’ abilities to work together and trust one another (Chapman, 2017). Setting team norms is a critical step in group development.
- Communication process
Communication plays is vital role in teamwork. For a group to be successful, there must be good communication among team members. Knowing the importance of communication, we have set two days of regular virtual meeting on zoom of our team to discuss about our task and take essential steps to complete it. During the team communication every team member will present their ideas and recommendation which will be further discussed as a group and analyse its result and decide if it can be implemented in our task.
- Conflict resolution
Working on a group may be difficult some time. There might be some conflicts working on a group. As a group we will always share our ideas and views. Conflict can occur within the group due to members’ varying experiences and roles; we will be discussing the topic and providing reasoning why the second idea is more effective. We will also take a vote after a discussion of all possible ideas and resolve conflicts.
- Consequences to failure in cooperating in the group
Shannon (2017) stated When a team fails, it tends to create an environment of tension and hostility. This can lead to the formation of various factions, the suspension of communication, and even the termination of a project or an innovation. If a team member does not follow the group’s expectations, the Team will first raise the issue with the individual. A thorough explanation would be required from the group member when he/she fails to complete the assigned tasks.
If a team member fails to co-operate in a team, fail to comply with teams’ rules and norms, does not give equal effort or any other reason when they cannot cope in the team, then he or she will still be given a warning. After repetitive behaviour like this, conflict should be taken to the lecturer. If the member is still not cooperating, request the lecturer to remove the specified member from the group. This part also will be represented as the “Adjourning” stage of Truckman’s Group formation Kessler (2013).
