This report provides recommendations to management of Oz Al regarding the feasibility of
increased use of robotic technology in its business model with a focus on expansion into
It includes an assessment of two areas of interest to the company over the next five years:
• Marketing of the current suite of products, including DAISI, into Asian markets; and • Expansion of the AI/robotics integration into other areas, including personal assistance / health care robots, and autonomous vehicles.
While presenting a huge potential market, there are significant barriers to entry into Asia, including competition in Japan and possible policy reform in China, which will provide competitive advantages to local businesses. Test marketing of existing products is recommended to gauge the interest in Oz Al products.
Expansion of robotics capabilities over the short and longer term presents opportunities for growth, particularly in the health care robot field. Using its strengths in artificial intelligence, and with some modifications to existing robot products, Oz Al can enter this market relatively quickly. Investment in research and development, to develop care robots with empathy, is also recommended for the longer term.
Additionally, an assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of further robotics
development and a risk analysis of robotic technology is undertaken.
Risks associated with robotics, including data security and human safety can be addressed at the design stage, while questions of legal liability can effectively be mitigated through insurance until such time as legislation catches up with industry developments.
