Computer modelling of slope stability problems has been widely accepted both in consulting engineering and research communities, and has provided the ability to reliably predict critical slope failure surfaces using a variety of different approaches. This study focuses on comparisons between safety factors for simple slopes calculated utilizing manual calculations and computer modelling using the extensively used limit equilibrium methods and the less common finite element approach. The comparative analysis is based on a multitude of slope geometry and material property combinations.
