The assessment comprises of a reflective portfolio. The student is to construct a reflective
portfolio of approximately 3000 words in total. The reflective portfolio will be comprised
of the following elements:
The portfolio will be around Gibbs Reflective Learning Cycle and submitted on the dates
shown below.
Part 1a: (700 words). (30%)
Reflective learning cycles.
a) A description of and evaluation of learning cycles which must include Gibbs.
b) Compare Gibbs learning cycles with at least 4 types of reflective learning such as Kolbs and etc.
b) The importance and value of reflective writing
Part 1b: (No word limit: 1 to 2 pages for each template). (10%)
Three reflective journal logs using the attached template. These must be for the
following lecture topics (Refer to Journal Log format).
a) Learning and Reflecting
b) Professional Conduct
c) Personal and Professional Conduct
Part 2: (1750 words). (60%)
Using Gibbs reflect on the topics you have learned about during the Professional Practice
module (weeks 1 to 10). Reflection should link to your own experiences during your
university course and in the workplace (or other previous experience), as well as relevant
literature.
A discussion of areas for personal development/improvement and how they might be
achieved will be included as part of the reflective cycle. Use of reflective journal logs may
help to guide your reflection.
Your assignments should all be in Arial 12 pt font or equivalent, and 1.5-line spacing.
Margins should not be smaller than 2.5cm. Word count should NOT exceed as indicated for each
part, including references.
