2.1 Individual assignment (AS1), weighting 50% of the mark (LO1-LO4), 2000 words.

Assignment Title: Discuss the competitive advantages of SMEs, problems faced by them, and their growth stages compared to large companies.

Details:

Vital source for this assignment: While you need more up-to-date sources to improve your writing, John Sloman’s textbook “Economics for Business”, published by Pearson, is a vital source that you cannot ignore. Even an old version (ed. 2010) would give you the basics.

Word Limit: The assessment should be limited to 2,000 words (+/- 10%). If the word count is more than 2,200 words or less than 1,800 words you must revise the text judiciously to deliver work within the stated limits.

Style requirements: except for the titles and subtitles, you should not highlight text, which must be in Arial size 11, without indentations. The main title should be highlighted in font size 16, and the subtitles highlighted in size 14. The margins should be justified, not aligned to the left. Additionally, the space between lines should be single and the space between paragraphs should be double. The work must be submitted in report form and not essay form requiring an Introduction, the main body with subtitles and a conclusion.

  • Individual assignment (AS2), weighting 50% of the mark (LO3, LO4) 2000 words

Assignment title: Discuss the dilemma of changing the exchange rate (evaluation and devaluation) in general and as applied to the UK.

Details:

  1. Appreciation and depreciation of a currency has consequences for trade: Discuss with reference to the relevant theories. This is the generic and theoretical part. Textbooks are useful for this section. Give examples from the UK pound value and trade (600 words).
  2. In much of the1980s the ratio of Sterling to Dollar flirted at around £1 = $2. The exchange rate is now down to £1 = $1.37. With reference to the relevant data outline the causes and implications of this change to British economy. (1200 words)
  3. Provide Introduction and conclusions in Report Style (200 words)
