Excel: (Entering & Editing Data)
Please Note: This session builds on, and assumes that you have completed, the previous Excel sessions. If that is not the case, please go back and complete them before returning to this session.
STEP 1: Getting Started
Launch Excel and create a new blank Workbook or open up an existing Workbook.
STEP 2: Enter a Title
Begin by typing in a title and make it bold.
STEP 3: Entering Data
We can now add the following data. Notice that some data is centred, some text is in italics and some in bold. We have also made the columns wider.
To make text bold, italic or aligned differently use the formatting icons at the top of the Excel Window, see the screenshot on the next page.
When you enter data you can do either of the following to confirm the entry and move to the next cell:
Type your entry and then press Enter on the keyboard to confirm it and move to the next cell DOWN.
Type your entry and then press Tab on the keyboard to confirm it and move to the next cell on the RIGHT.
To change the contents of a cell, click on the cell and then use the formula bar to make changes to the entry:

To edit and entry, click in the cell
Edit the entry in the formula bar and press Enter when done or click on the tick to the left of the formula bar
Formatting Alignment
To change the width of a column, place your mouse pointer on the top of the line and, keeping the left-hand mouse button depressed, drag the line left or right as needed. Then let go.
You can do a similar thing to change the height of rows.
Place your mouse pointer on the bottom of the line and, keeping the left-hand mouse button depressed, drag the line up or down as needed. Then let go.
