Assignment Task
This assignment requires a poster presentation and a written report that demonstrate an introductory
background knowledge to Global business and aims to provide a perspective on globalisation and how it
affects business decisions and the challenges of internationalising your business. You will explore and
understand the impact of culture in a changing global workplace in international business and develop a
range of effective management strategies in response to the global environment.
This assignment has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your
achievement of the following module learning outcomes:
LO 1 Put in context globalisation’s impact on business;
LO 2 Understand WTO and de-regulation across markets;
LO 3 Analyse the functions of an organisations’ functions and culture within a globalised or multinational
business.
Task Requirements
OVERVIEW:
You have been hired as an International Business Consultant by a local company with head office in
London that would like to expand into Europe, Asia, and South America, but do not have the international
business expertise. Your role involves analysing the functions and culture of the business within a
globalised economy, focusing on how business functions and culture contribute to business strategies in
an international context and how they can enter international markets and be successful in these markets.
The management team would also like to understand the role of World Trade Organisation (WTO) and de
regulation across international markets, putting in context the impact of globalisation on business.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK – WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO?
1. Prepare an annotated Poster Presentation for the management team that covers the following
(i) the drivers behind globalisation
(ii) the benefits, and barriers to internationalisation of business.
(iii) the differences between domestic and international business
(iv) the role of WTO in international business
(v) the effects of trading blocs in international business.
This task covers LO1 and LO2 (1000 words)
2. Prepare a report that demonstrates an understanding of trading across national boundaries and the
impact on head office culture and global strategy (LO 3) 1,500 words.
The report should focus on the following:
(i) an introduction of the local company and its current market. (150 words)
(ii) protecting Intellectual Property Rights in a globalised economy. (150 words)
(iii) managing business functions in an international context. (250 words)
(iv) the impact of national cultures in international markets. (300 words)
(v) an assessment of entry strategies in international markets. (350 words)
(vi) an assessment of appropriate global strategy for the local company. (300 words)
The report should be written in the standard academic report format consisting of a table of
contents, an introduction, and appropriate headings covering the above six points. You can use
sub-headings as deemed appropriate. You must demonstrate evidence of wider research and
reading of core textbooks and academic scholarly work through referencing.
Your assignment should be submitted as a single MS Word file with the poster presentation
attached as an appendix to the report. Please Do Not upload additional appendices.
Please note that exceeding the word count will result in a reduction in grade by the same
percentage that the word count is exceeded. The word count excludes the cover page, table of
contents, and reference list.

a proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions.
This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 4.

Submission Details
This assignment should be submitted electronically via Moodle (module tutors will discuss this process with
you during class time).
• Please ensure that your work has been saved in an appropriate file format (Microsoft Word, Excel
or PowerPoint, or PDF are the most widely used; Google Docs is also accepted). Your file must
also contain at least 20 words of text, consist of fewer than 400 pages and be less than 40MB in
size.
• You can submit your work as many times as you like before the submission date. If you do submit
your work more than once, your earlier submission will be replaced by the most recent version.
• Once you have submitted your work, you will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission, which
will be sent to your forwarded e-mail address (provided you have set this up). Please keep this
receipt for future reference, along with the original electronic copy of your assignment

This assignment should be submitted before 14:00 UK time on Monday 13th June 2022.
You should submit all work for summative assessments by the above deadline. Work submitted up to three
working days after the deadline will be accepted and marked, but the mark will be capped at the pass mark
(40%) unless there is a valid reason for the late submission (i.e., having been granted an extension to the
deadline or a deferral under the terms of the Extenuating Circumstances Policy).
Work submitted more than three working days after the deadline without a valid reason will not be
accepted and will be recorded as 0% RN (refer, no work submitted).
