Module Code & Title: HRM9039M Comparative Human Resource Management
Contribution to Final Module Mark: 50%
Description of Assessment Task and Purpose:
This assessment requires you to produce a digital poster in which you should identify a
specific Multinational Company (MNC) in order to demonstrate an understanding of the
different national and cultural factors that might shape human resource management
practices. The poster should include different sections as follows:
Section One (Introduction) – in this section, the Multinational Corporation should be
introduced by using some referenced information obtained from the company website. This
section will also provide some brief signposting for the reader to indicate the various aspects
of the company in relation to the chosen approaches to human resource management;
Section Two – this section should provide a brief academic discussion of national culture
theory in relation to some of the approaches to human resource management identified.
This section should be written like a ‘mini’ academic essay and should include references to
academic journal articles/websites such as

Section Three – this section should identify some of the approaches to recruitment and
selection, employee relations, training and development or performance management that
are undertaken by the chosen multinational corporation and the writing should evaluate them
in terms of effectiveness. Referenced academic examples from human resource
management papers should be used to underpin the discussion here;
Section Four (Conclusion) – this section should provide a very brief conclusion of the
findings of your research;
Section Five (References) – this section should contain an alphabetical list of all the
references used in the poster and should be presented according to the requirements of the
Harvard system.

The poster may contain links to MNC websites and may include images, although the use of
images should not be extensive.

LO3 Identify the specific approaches to Recruitment and Selection, Employee
Relations, Rewards, Performance Management, Training and Development within
developed and developed economies

Subject Specific Knowledge, Skills and Understanding: e.g. Literature searching,
Referencing, Numeracy, Health and Safety, Project Planning, Techniques and Skills
Subject-specific knowledge.

others, managing and supporting others, motivation, resilience, self-confidence.
Career-focused Skills: An understanding of the range of graduate careers, skills
and attributes required by employers, a range of strategies to present skills and
attributes to employers.
Assessment Submission Instructions: Please submit the digital poster to the Turnitin link
on Blackboard by 12 noon on 1st April 2022

Format for Assessment: Digital poster – please upload from the assessment tab on the
module Blackboard site.
Marking Criteria for Assessment: See appendix three
Please note that all work is assessed according to the University of Lincoln Management of
Assessment Policy and that marks awarded are provisional on Examination Board decisions
(which take place at the end of the Academic Year.
Feedback Format: Feedback will be provided electronically on the Blackboard site on or
before 27th April 2022

Assessment Support Information: Assessment support will be provided in the seminars in
