Read the following Case Studies and answer each question that follows.
Case Study A – Digital technology
Simply Living is a small company that sells a range of home-essentials and furniture. They have a shop but would like to expand their customer base to increase revenue.
Goals and strategies include selling more products to a higher number of customers, better communication and moving data storage away from paper filing.
The company would also like to receive more customer feedback and begin advertising their products online.
Identify which digital technologies Simply Living would need to implement to meet their goals and objectives, and briefly explain the benefits of each.
Identify four different sources of information.
Case Study B – Specialist advice
ABC Books is a chain of bookshops which have seven locations across the country. Previously, they have only sold in-store; however, they have noticed their competitors moving online. They decide to investigate getting a website to allow customers to shop from their own homes.
ABC Books has identified a marketing firm, Get People Talking, to help promote and market the website. The CEO is Graham Brown.
ABC Books is particularly interested in help and advice relating to:
Social media to drive traffic to the website
The types of content marketing to post on the website
Metrics to use to analyse success.
They need to contact the organisation to acquire their services and learn what they should be doing in regards to these issues.
Identify four different ways to seek assistance when researching and implementing digital technologies.
Write a short email from ABC Books to the marketing agency to seek their assistance with promoting and marketing the website. Explain who ABC Books are and what the website intends to achieve.
Case Study C – Implementation plan
When the website is officially given the go-ahead, the owner of ABC Books starts working on a plan for how to implement it.
She lists three important stages:
Developing the website. This will need to be completed over the first six months of 2018, with the Marketing Manager providing feedback to the agency. The budget for this has been set at $6,000
Training employees on how to use the website. The HR manager will need to arrange this for all shop floor employees. This should take place during the last three months of development (April-June 2018) and will require enough computers for everyone
Marketing the new website. This should be coordinated by all members of the marketing department who will produce relevant materials (e.g. flyers, posters), and team leaders will need to give shop floor employees instructions on how to do it. For maximum impact, this should take place a month before the website launches in August.
Write an implementation plan for ABC Books according to organisational requirements. This should be aimed at employees in the business. The plan should be no longer than 250 words.
Complete the following table, identifying the timeframes, people and resources required for each action to implement the website.
