Individual Written Report
The individual written report requires students to produce a 1500-word written report on the topic of
workplace culture. Students are to select one (1) main topic on which to focus for the entirety of the report.
Please select one (1) topic from the list below:
• The impact of workplace culture on graduate nurse transition
• The impact of workplace culture on patient safety in acute care
• The impact of workplace culture on patient safety in primary health care
• The impact of workplace culture in relation to cultural safety and sensitivity
• The impact of workplace incivility on graduate nurse transition
• The impact of workplace culture on change management/quality improvement
The case report should address the following key points:

Discuss effective evidence-based strategies that healthcare organisations can implement
to improve the workplace culture in relation to the chosen topic
Submission
Submit the following:
1. Individual written report
The individual written report is to be completed and submitted individually via the Assessment 4 Individual
Written Assessment drop-box within Brightspace NSG3104.
Submission of Word documents are required for this submission.
PDF files are not acceptable for this assessment.
Turnitin submission is required for this submission.
It is each individual student’s responsibility to check their assessment submission in relation to the
assessment requirements.
Submit early so that you have time to make any changes based on the Turnitin similarity report.
The Written Case Report is to be structured as follows:
1. Cover Sheet (submit this as a separate file into the same drop-box)
2. Title Page (A report front cover listing Assessment Title & Subject, Student Name, SID)
3. Contents page
4. Introduction
a. Introduces the purpose of the report
b. Introduces the topic and any relevant background information
c. Briefly comment on the relevance of the chosen topic in relation to the graduate
nurse as evidenced by the research. If there is little to no relevance- please state
this within the introduction.
5. Methods- This section explains how the research used to inform the report was found
a. Lists the search terms that were used
b. Lists the sources accessed to obtain relevant research/information
6. Discussion– This is the lengthiest section of the report
a. Discuss all key points (as outlined above on page 1)
b. Describe, analyse, and interpret your findings in relation to your chosen topic
7. Conclusion
a. Conclude the key points discussed including the major findings
b. Briefly provide recommendations or key advice to the graduate nurse
transitioning into the workplace AND in relation to the topic discussed.

Group Presentation
Each student will be allocated a small group for this group component of the assessment task.
Every student within the group is to work together cohesively to develop and conduct a recorded group
presentation.
This assessment requires the submission of a video-recorded presentation. Every student within the group
is required to present. Each student will speak for at least 5 minutes. The presentation can be no longer than
25 minutes duration in total.

Presentation slides must be submitted to Turnitin into the ‘Assessment 4 Group Presentation’ dropbox.
The video recording can be embedded within the PowerPoint file OR as a separate video file submission
into the ‘Group Presentation Video Dropbox’.
Each student within each group must submit the slides and recording to the relevant dropbox.
Each group must submit documented notes detailing at least two group meetings written in ISBAR
format (can use the template provided). Each student within the group should submit the same two
set of notes (meeting minutes).
Each student will grade each of their fellow team members according to the teamwork skills they
demonstrated throughout completion of the project. Each student will therefore receive four peerreview grades. These will be totalled and averaged, contributing to the overall grade for individual
students.
Extensions will be provided to students on an individual basis upon application to the Subject Coordinator, IF the
application includes documentation such as a medical certificate. Extensions must be applied for within five days of the
assessment due date. Students who have been on placement recently this semester will be provided extensions upon
individual application. Students may also apply for Special Consideration or Deferred Assessment however must
discuss this individually with the Subject Coordinator. There will be limited extensions available for group assessments
due to the impact this will have on the entire group.
The aim of the group presentation is to research, analyse and describe information and effective
strategies that graduate nurses can utilise for a successful transition to the healthcare workplace.
The presentation should detail current research on the topic, any relevant background information,
and recommendations directed towards graduate nurses.
The topics listed below must be addressed within your presentation:
• Effective workplace culture (enablers & barriers)
• Working effectively in teams
• The importance and value of advocacy
Also included within the presentation must be one (1) evidence-based strategy that healthcare
organisations can implement to promote the successful transition of graduate nurses to the workforce.

1. Font size 12 Arial.
3. Leave a 3cm margin on the left side of the page.
4. Double space lines.
5. Pages should be numbered
6. Attach an assignment title page.

8. Every student within each group must submit an assessment cover page with their own
submission to the dropbox. [Students are not required to submit a cover page for other students].
9. The group presentation is to be recorded with video and audio enabled. Acceptable platforms
include Webex, PowerPoint, and Zoom. The presentation must include PowerPoint slides.
Referencing
Reference as per APA 7th providing in-text citations and reference list. A separate reference list is
required for each individual and group presentation submission.

The information must be from sources that are current (<5 years), relevant, and of high quality (peerreviewed).
In-text references are excluded from the word count for the Individual Report.

All work completed and submitted is to be free from plagiarism and is in accordance with academic conduct.
